Digital Fringe festival terms of entry
- The artist accepts responsibility for obtaining the appropriate copyright clearances for material within their artwork
- Copyright of the entered Works remains with you the artist, unless you choose to release specific or all rights with an alternative license. (Artists can choose the type of licensing that best suits them, from a traditional All Rights Reserved to an open Public Domain license. We encourage you to think about contributing to the cultural commons by releasing at least some rights (ie. to share or remix with attribution) by choosing the appropriate Creative Commons license.)
- Digital Fringe is licensed to screen your works during the festival and for non-commercial and promotional purposes
- Digital Fringe may at its discretion use all or any part of the Works, and may alter or modify such Works to fit in with screening requirements and promotional activities
Creative Commons
Creative commons is an International open source licensing agreement where artists will retain copyright of their material but others can, under certain conditions, use the material
Share, reuse, and remix — legally
Creative commons is an International open source licensing agreement, it is nonprofit organisation and provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry. You can use CC to change your copyright terms from “All Rights Reserved” to “Some Rights Reserved.” It is a nonprofit organization. Everything involved with Creative Commons — including the software we create — is free http://creativecommons.org/
Here is a concise explanation of how it works
Offering your work under a Creative Commons license does not mean giving up your copyright. It means offering some of your rights to any member of the public but only on certain conditions. What conditions? You can find an overview of the Creative Commons licenses here. All of our licenses require that you give attribution in the manner specified by the author or licensor.
